Setting up MFA

Multi-Factor Authentication

Updated over 11 months ago

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as the Bricr application. MFA is a core component of a strong identity and access management (IAM) policy. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.

Setting in Bricr

The administrator has possibility to force MFA for all users.
[Settings] > [General > [General account] > [Preferences] > Force use of MFA

If administrator has not check that setting, you can set it for each individual user.
[Settings] > [Users] > select user > [Personal information] > Multi Factor Authentication

Install "MFA" app as a user

First of all, as a user, you will need to download a Two-step verification app such as Google Authenticator for iOS or Android or Microsoft Authenticator for iOS or Android. The MFA landing page contains some links to the most used apps for both Android and iOS. Besides Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator, there are more good two-step verification apps available. Think Authy and LastPass Authenticator. These applications work in a similar way and simply let you log in more securely. Install it on your phone and follow the instructions in the app.

Activate MFA

To enable MFA, follow these steps:

1) Download a two-factor authenticator app such as Google Authenticator for iOS or Android or Microsoft Authenticator for iOS or Android.

2) Now grab your phone with installed Authenticator app.

3) Choose “Scan a QR code” in the app and scan the code from the website. If it says: The mobile app is configured for notifications, click Next. You can also enter the key manually.
In your Authenticator app you choose the option “enter code manually” then enter the from EyeMove in your app under the “KEY” field. For the name you can enter your own name or email address, for example “username@bricr.com (Bricr)”. If you can indicate a type of key, choose time-based.

4) If you have scanned the QR code or entered the code manually, you will receive a unique code in the Authenticator app. Enter this code in Bricr.
